Honestly. I doubt it. Last summer they said they were going to be very active. Not so much like signing UFA (as I feel was good since they need to trim some age and salary) but didn't really do anything. I really would like to see Carter and Quick (at least) get moved. Brown too since I feel he might have some value now that he actually has played decent the past 2 seasons. If there is a young top 6er available for trade then I wouldn't mind seeing the Kings go after them as long as they don't trade away the #2 overall pick. Either way. I have a feeling it will be like last summer and do nothing at all.

I doubt they sign anyone due to the expansion draft next year unless it's a once in a lifetime player that wants to join a rebuilding team.

No one is taking Carter, Quick, and Brown in a flat cap world. No one would probably take either of those 3 with a rising cap, either. Any team with cap room heading into 20/21 is looking to take bad contacts from cap ceiling teams along with picks and/or prospects. The Kings will/should be one of those teams. Finally, while these three have a combined cap hit of ~17mm, their actual, combined 20/21 salaries don't top 9.5mm. That's attractive for the club's bottomline.

Best we just enjoy these 3 on their farewell tour. They've been warriors for the club but we're saddled with them. Icing them regularly will likely result in the team having another top 10 pick in the 21 draft which is deep with defenseman.

I believe they will be busy. They are of maybe 4 teams with cap space (Devs, Sens, Blue Jackets), and are likely the most sought after destination in terms of lifestyle. Given the cap crunch, I don't see why they cant land a couple significant UFA's as a discount. That or they take on bad contracts for draft picks/prospects.

I could see the Kings bringing back Toffoli and/or Clifford on short to mid-term deals if their respective teams don't re-sign them. Aside from that, they might explore the short term UFA market for a LHD (I do not think Hutton was good at all).

Aside from that, I think it's premature for the Kings to go UFA shopping.

The Kings have cap space now and will again in a few years. Blake needs to get creative and weaponize the cap space in this flat cap time period. I don't think we should go after older UFA's but rather we should target getting some young D prospects or picks by taking on a few bad contracts from teams who are in a pinch. It would be optimal to target guys with two years left on their contracts (anything more than that might be too risky) as we won't need the cap space for two or more years. Only issue is that we need to look at who we would loose in the expansion draft if we were to take someone with a NTC clause and they we were forced to protect.
